Polka Dots and Roses

Mom's polka dot skirt worn as dress // Romwe tattered rose sweater // Kimchi Blue cap toe wedges (UO)

I was super excited to get this sweater on a special sale a while ago since it looks so similar to the Wildfox rose sweater! My mom says that it looks hobo-esque, but I rather like the destroyed details of the sweater. :) Plus, I love how it's slightly sheer so you can still see the polka dots underneath. I often "borrow" my mom's clothes, but unfortunately a lot of them don't fit quite right so I end up wearing them in other ways, like this skirt as a dress. Too bad I can't really figure out what to do with the jackets that are too big. And I think this bow used to be a belt or sash for the skirt, but I like wearing it as a bow. Recently I've been having a slight, read major, obsession with bows. From actual bows to bow prints, they're so cute! I really want a bow print dress or something now!

Floral Applique

Floral applique dress c/o Sugarlips // Forever 21 stripe top // Vintage maroon button up // AEO perforated floppy hat // Lulu's studded shoes

I feel like it's summer already with the sun so bright and everyone wearing hats. I went to the zoo with my little sister today and almost half the people there were wearing sunhats! I got this hat last autumn and love how it has perforated holes so that the sun shines through. And how love is this dress! I was already sold after seeing the flowers in front, and just about died when I saw the back. I'm always reluctant to wear a jacket over this dress since I feel like covering the back would not be doing it justice. Haha, so instead of wearing a jacket, I sometimes just layer a bunch of shirts underneath when it's cooler.

Princess Tulle

Dress c/o eShakti // Forever 21 sheer shirt, necklace

I love this dress from eShakti! It's super fun, and I always feel like a princess when wearing it. :) It even has pockets which I always appreciate in dresses. It uses a stiff tulle, so it really holds its shape and adds a lot of volume. The tulle part is actually a separate skirt in itself, so you can also wear it under other dresses or by itself. eShakti is a great retailer from which you can get clothes customized to your specific size for the perfect fit. They also let you adjust the length and other features such as the sleeves or neckline. Be sure to check them out, and use the code FLYELEPHNT for 20% off at eShakti through 3/20/13!

Daisy Eyelet Skirt

American Rag stripe knit blazer (Macy's) // Vintage shirt and stripe bow // Daisy eyelet skirt c/o Sugarlips // TBA shoes

I just got this blazer recently, and I can't stop wearing it because it goes with everything! Now I can't wait to find a horizontal stripe shirt since stripes are so versatile. I've also been obsessed over this skirt from Sugarlips. The daisy detailing is perfect for spring, and I love the skater shape. Plus, I've been needing a new white skirt for so long now. In other news, I just had my birthday recently (yay!), but I spent most of it working on an essay (boo). But I now get to eat red velvet cake to for breakfast, so yay again!

Floral Sneaker Wedges

Thrifted mint corduroy blazer (Goodwill) // J Crew tee shirt // Forever 21 emerald button down corduroy skirt // Go Jane floral sneaker wedges (similar here)

I finally got sneaker wedges about a month ago! It's kind of a love hate thing as I know both people who love sneaker wedges and people who can't stand them. I personally really like them, especially since I've been looking for a comfy casual shoe that still stands out for a long time now. And the floral was just perfect for spring, so I couldn't resist! I also like pairing different shades of green together, like with the mint and emerald here. The fact that they were both corduroy was totally coincidental, but the fabric thickness was perfect for the weather since it was still a little chilly outside. And like in the previous post, this blazer is also from Goodwill. I just realized that a majority of my outerwear comes from there. But there aren't any other other close by thrift stores, and it's so cheap, so it makes sense when I think about it. Haha, now I have an urge to go thrifting! Tell me all about your favorite thrift places or some of the best steals that you've gotten! :)

Valentine's Red

Thrifted Jones New York blazer // Romwe dot top thanks to Ocrun // Vintage skirt // Forever 21 nude patent pumps

I got this blazer at Goodwill a while back. It's 100% silk, so it's really soft and comfy. I also really like this shade of red since it's not too red, and it kind of has this nice coral tone to it. Also, I finally got a pair of nude patent pumps, and they do wonders for lengthening the legs. And I didn't notice until after we started taking the pictures, but this outfit is really great for Valentine's Day! (I just couldn't resist taking a heart picture after I realized that.) Does anyone have any special plans? :) Haha, SAT scores come out on Valentine's, so I'll probably spend my day stressing over that!

Fringe

Karen Kane open knit sweater (Macy's) // Lace and fringe dress c/o Sugarlips // H&M t-strap heels

We've just started The Great Gatsby in literature recently, so I decided to channel some of my inner '20s with this fringe dress! I really love the fashion of the 1920s with all the flapper dresses and such. This dress is lots of fun with the fringe, which adds great movement. I also love how it's in a creamy white color because it really reminds me of Uli's dresses from Project Runway All Stars. Do you watch Project Runway? I'm a huge fan, so definitely tell me all about your favorite designers and looks! On a side note,  this dress also works great as a layering piece when worn as a top under a sweater or shirt. I found this out unintentionally while changing. I was putting on a pair of pants and hadn't yet taken off the dress or sweater. The dress became partially tucked into the pants, and it didn't look too bad when I checked in the mirror. So I tucked the dress in so that only the fringe peeped out under the sweater, and I actually really liked the look! Just an idea if you have a similar fringe dress. :) This might be hard to imagine so I might do an outfit post eventually to better show what I mean.
