With Thanksgiving coming up, I thought I'd make some holiday outfits! :) I was originally only planning on making three outfits but ended up making six because there were so many great pieces on Polyvore! Thanksgiving is a holiday for quality time with family and lots of eating, so the two most important components of a Thanksgiving outfit are: 1. looking polished and presentable for the family and 2. wearing clothes that can hide the effects of the delicious Thanksgiving feast! Read more for details on each outfit:
If you look through the outfits, you'll probably notice some common elements, particularly ankle strap flats and tweed jackets – my two biggest cravings of the moment!
Ankle Strap Flats: As amazing as your new Jeffrey Campbell shoes may be, parents don't always love their little girls wearing what they deem to be positively bizarre and dangerous sky-high heels. Plus, Thanksgiving is just a family gathering, so there's no need to be super fancy. Save yourself the pain of wearing heels all day long by wearing comfy flats so that you can really enjoy the holiday. :) I particularly love ankle strap flats because they add an unexpected touch and look so chic!
Tweed Jackets: The tweed jacket is probably my favorite jacket of the moment. I subconsciously included tweed jackets in four out of the six looks! They look super sophisticated so they're great for family gatherings. My favorite type of tweed jackets either have a moto shape, colorful threads, frayed edges, or (best of all) a combination of all of the above! I'm absolutely in love with this one from Zara right now!
Here's a quick run through of each of the outfits:
1. Your parents may not approve of you wearing your black studded moto jacket and destroyed denim cut-offs, but surely they won't mind this buttery taupe leather jacket paired with a sophisticated peplum top. And of course,Valentino studded shoe love!
2. Still obsessed with printed pants! Haha, all my friends find it so rare whenever I when plain blue jeans.
3. How amazing is this magenta scalloped suede skirt?
4. Madewell sidewalk skimmers are such classics that go with everything. I want one in every color!
5. A long sleeve lace dress is perfect for Thanksgiving. I thought that this one was really unique with the stripes, and I love the scalloped edges!
6. Pink tweed jacket + peter pan collar + printed jeans + polka dot ankle strap flats = <3
Which outfit is your favorite? Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
xoxo, Elly
